The Director of Quality Assurance of the Kano Consumer Protection Council, Mr Bello Alkarya, has been arrested for allegedly collecting bribes.
Barrister Mahmud Balarabe, Chairman of the Kano Anti-Corruption Commission said that Alkarya has been detained after he was caught receiving bribe.
Balarabe said, “We have an officer of the State Consumer Protection Council arrested red-handed, and we are investigating the matter because for now I personally don’t have details about his arrest but he is in our cell”.
Another director of the council was also said to have been arrested and detained after alleged collection of bribes in the last few months.
In a similar vein, the Department of State Services (DSS), last week detained General Idris Bello Dambazau, Chairman, Kano Consumer Protection Council, for alleged economic sabotage.
