Former Governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose’s anointed aspirant for the 2022 governorship election in Ekiti state, Bisi Kolawole has emerged winner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primary election held on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Kolawole who hails from Efon-Ekiti, in the Central senatorial district, polled 671 votes to defeat his closet rival and former governor, Segun Oni who garnered 330 votes.
He is a former Commissioner for Environment.
Other contestants in the Primary election were former deputy governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola-Eleka who scored 93 votes; Wale Aribisala, 56 votes; Kayode Adaramodu,10 votes;
Deji Ogunsakin, 6 votes Biodun Olujimi who had earlier pulled out got 2 votes and Lateef Ajijola, 1 vote.
Before the commencement of the primary exercise, one of the key aspirants, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, withdrew from the race.
Olujimi, who represents Ekiti South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, cited gender bias and an unfair resolution of matters arising from a lingering controversial congress of the party.
Olujimi said the list to be used for the primary puts her at a disadvantage as her local government is left with only 12 delegates as decided by the party leadership.
