Interim President of Guinea, Mamady Doumbouya, has said the country’s national men’s football must make a partial refund for the games not played in the the African Cup of Nations (AFCON)
Doumbouya forgave the team for crashing out of the football competition but demanded a partial refund of of money for the games.
Guinea was eliminated from the biennial competition after a 1-0 loss to the Gambia.
“But the money given to the team covered QF, Semi-final, and final games and that must be returned to the state coffers,” Ghanian sports journalist Saddik Adams tweeted on Wednesday.
Mr. Doumbouya previously said the team will refund the state’s money if they failed to win the cup.
The Guinea elephants, however, crashed out of the AFCON 2021 on Monday.
